Dionysus

Character from Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan

God of Wine stuck running a summer camp for teenagers as punishment — he can't drink alcohol, can't remember anyone's name, and considers his job a personal affront.

Mr. D is the best comedic character in the series. He was sentenced to run Camp Half-Blood for a hundred years because he chased an off-limits nymph, and he handles this punishment by aggressively not caring. He calls Percy 'Peter Johnson,' Annabeth 'Annie Bell,' and every other camper by the wrong name as a power move. He plays pinochle with Chiron and complains. Beneath the apathy, he's actually protective of the campers — he just expresses it through annoyance rather than warmth. When he does use his divine power (which he's mostly banned from doing), it's devastating: he can drive anyone insane with a glance.

Appearance

Pudgy and middle-aged, wearing a leopard-print Hawaiian shirt and purple running shoes. He has watery blue eyes, a red nose, and the perpetual expression of someone who'd rather be anywhere else. He drinks Diet Coke because Zeus banned him from wine.

Also known as: Dionysus, Mr. D, Bacchus, God of Wine
