Character from Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan
Son of Hephaestus — the camp's best smith and a gentle giant who died blowing up Kronos's flagship to buy time for the Battle of Manhattan.
Beckendorf was the Hephaestus cabin counselor — big, dark-skinned, with hands made for forging and a quiet confidence that came from being genuinely good at everything he did. He was strong, kind, and brave in the understated way that makes his death hit harder. He volunteered for the mission to destroy the Princess Andromeda (Kronos's flagship) knowing it was almost certainly a one-way trip. He died making sure the explosion succeeded, staying behind to detonate the charges when the timer failed, giving Manhattan's defenders the breathing room they needed to survive the invasion.
Big, dark-skinned, with hands made for forging. He wore a leather smith's apron over his camp armor and carried tools alongside weapons.
