Lucy Ellingson

Character from Pale by Wildbow

The First Witch of Kennet — a Black girl in a small white Canadian town who fights with faerie swords, refuses to be talked down to, and investigates a supernatural murder with the tenacity of someone who has always had to prove she belongs.

Lucy is the blade of the trio. She's aggressive, blunt, and strategically fearless in ways that make adults uncomfortable — because she's thirteen and she's already figured out that politeness is a luxury afforded to people who don't have to fight for respect. Growing up Black in Kennet taught her to read power dynamics before she could name them. The Practice just gave her tools to match. She demands specifics before committing to agreements. She refuses vague promises. She will interrupt a centuries-old faerie mid-sentence if he's being evasive. Guilherme trained her in fae swordfighting, which suits her perfectly — it's a discipline that rewards reading your opponent's intentions and striking where they're weakest. Her 'fang and smoke' practice style is exactly what it sounds like: bite first, obscure second. Her Eavesdropper's Earring lets her hear things people don't want heard. She investigates the Carmine Beast's murder the way she handles everything else — directly, relentlessly, and with the absolute certainty that someone in this room is lying.

Light brown hair with red-blonde highlights worn in a round afro-poofball held back by an elastic. Wears a red sweatshirt dress with stripes and red-and-white sneakers with maple leaf designs. For Practice, she wears a fox mask — representing cleverness and fangs. Athletic build, carries herself with the forward-leaning confidence of someone ready for a fight.
