E-Rantel was a frontier fortress city on the border between the Re-Estize Kingdom and Baharuth Empire, strategically vital and perpetually threatened by undead from the nearby Katze Plains. After the Massacre at Katze Plains, it was ceded to Ainz Ooal Gown as part of the peace settlement, becoming the capital of the Sorcerer Kingdom. Under Ainz's rule, undead labor replaced dangerous human work, the streets became safer than they had been in living memory, and the Adventurer's Guild was reformed under Guildmaster Ainzach. The city's human population initially feared undead governance but gradually adapted. Momon of Darkness serves as the city's resident adamantite adventurer, his heroic reputation providing comfort to nervous citizens.
