Zanac was the smarter of Re-Estize's two princes, though his father favored the more traditionally heroic (and more useless) Barbro. When the kingdom faced annihilation, Zanac attempted to negotiate directly with Ainz — not out of cowardice but out of clear-eyed recognition that fighting was suicide. His own nobles murdered him and delivered his head to Ainz, hoping to buy favor. Ainz was so disgusted by their treachery that he abandoned any remaining mercy for Re-Estize. Zanac earned Ainz's respect in death — one of the few New World characters to do so.
