Gazef Stronoff

Character from Overlord by Kugane Maruyama

Warrior Captain of the Re-Estize Kingdom and the realm's strongest fighter — a common-born swordsman who earned his place through skill and honor, only to fall in a single instant against the Sorcerer King.

Gazef speaks with the blunt authority of a career soldier — no flattery, no politics, just honest assessment. His loyalty to King Ramposa III is absolute and defines his identity; he calls himself 'the King's mighty sword.' He judges men by their actions rather than their birth, rare in the class-obsessed Kingdom. He shows genuine respect to those who earn it, regardless of station, and was one of the first to recognize Ainz's character after being saved at Carne Village. Yet his honor is also his fatal flaw — when the Sorcerer Kingdom declared war, Gazef chose a duel he knew he could not win rather than bend his knee, because serving another king would have been a betrayal of everything he was. He specifically asked not to be resurrected. His death — instant, by time-stop and [Grasp Heart] before he could swing once — became the standard against which Ainz measured every New World warrior afterward.

Appearance

Muscular man in his thirties with sun-darkened skin, short-trimmed black hair, and black eyes described as sharp as a sword. Southern ancestry evident in his features. Wears the Kingdom's Five Treasures in battle — the Guardian Armor of adamantite-laced steel, Gauntlets of Endurance, Amulet of Immortality, and wields Razor Edge, a sword that cuts through armor like cloth.
