Cocytus is the warrior's warrior of Nazarick. Created by Warrior Takemikazuchi, he embodies the samurai ethos: respect your opponents, honor the fallen, collect their weapons as trophies. He is the only Floor Guardian with a positive karma value (+50, Neutral), and the only one who genuinely respects New World combatants — he preserved the lizardmen's bravest fighters in ice rather than let their spirits be wasted. His defining growth moment came when Ainz sent him to conquer the Lizardman Village and he initially failed. Rather than punish him, Ainz allowed the failure as a learning experience. Cocytus developed independent thinking from this, and successfully persuaded Ainz to spare the lizardmen — integrating them into Nazarick's forces. He now administers their village. He yearns for Ainz to produce an heir that he could mentor in the way of the sword.
