The World Government abandoned it, and Caesar Clown moved in to conduct experiments too monstrous even for Vegapunk's ethics: gigantification drugs tested on kidnapped children, chemical weapons (Shinokuni), and SAD — the raw material for artificial Zoan Devil Fruits (SMILE) supplied to Kaido. The Straw Hats' arrival here kicked off the chain of alliances — with Law, with the samurai of Wano — that would eventually lead to the defeat of Doflamingo and Kaido. It's the domino that started everything.
An island literally torn between extremes. The left half is encased in ice — frozen wasteland, frost-covered ruins, temperatures lethal to the unprotected. The right half burns perpetually — molten rock, fire everywhere, sulfurous air. The dividing line is stark and surreal. Beneath the surface, Caesar's laboratory: sterile corridors, chemical storage, SAD production facilities, and holding cells for kidnapped children he was experimenting on with gigantification drugs. Toxic gas (Shinokuni) blankets portions of the exterior, leftover from Caesar's mass-murder weapon tests.
