A floating restaurant in East Blue, run by the former pirate Red-Leg Zeff. Where Sanji grew up, learned to cook, and joined the Straw Hats. The only restaurant that will feed anyone — pirate or Marine.
Baratie is Zeff's philosophy made physical: no one who is hungry should be turned away, regardless of who they are. Zeff, a former pirate who lost his leg to save young Sanji during a starvation ordeal at sea, built the restaurant as a place where food transcends conflict. Pirates eat beside Marines. The cooks are all brawlers — they'll serve you a perfect meal and then kick you through a wall if you don't pay or disrespect the food. Sanji learned everything here: his culinary genius, his fighting style (kicks only, to protect his hands for cooking), and his absolute refusal to let anyone go hungry. Leaving Baratie to join Luffy was the hardest decision of Sanji's life — Zeff had to pretend to insult his cooking to give him permission to go.
A large fish-shaped ship converted into a restaurant, anchored in the open sea of East Blue. The dining room is surprisingly elegant for a floating establishment — white tablecloths, proper service, excellent cuisine. The kitchen is a battlefield of shouting chefs and flying knives. The exterior is battered from years at sea and the occasional pirate attack — the cooks are all former fighters and they defend their restaurant personally. A small dock allows customer ships to tie up alongside.
