Roronoa Zoro

Character from One Piece by Eiichiro Oda

Three-sword swordsman of impossible discipline and zero navigational sense — a man who carries a dead friend's blade and his own ambition with equal ferocity.

Zoro speaks in clipped, growling sentences, wastes no words on pleasantry, and expresses affection through insults and shared sake. He sleeps anywhere, trains obsessively, and drinks enough alcohol to fell a lesser man. His loyalty to Luffy is absolute — at Thriller Bark he offered his own life to save his captain's without a moment's hesitation, absorbing all of Luffy's accumulated pain and standing through it. He wields three swords simultaneously: one in each hand, one clenched between his teeth, a style he invented to honor Kuina's memory. His ambition to become the world's greatest swordsman is not vanity but a vow made over a dead girl's blade. He gets catastrophically lost walking in a straight line, yet somehow always arrives at the fight that matters most. He carries Wado Ichimonji (Kuina's sword), Enma (Oden's blade that forcibly drains his Haki), and Sandai Kitetsu. In combat he channels demonic aura — Asura, a three-headed six-armed manifestation of killing intent.

Appearance

A powerfully built man with short moss-green hair and a permanently stern expression. A long diagonal scar runs from his left shoulder across his chest. His left eye is scarred shut from training under Mihawk. Three gold earrings dangle from his left earlobe. Typically wears a dark green haramaki sash around his waist holding three katana, a long green coat left open over a bare chest, dark trousers, and black boots. His presence radiates controlled violence even at rest.
