Magellan

Character from One Piece by Eiichiro Oda

The warden of Impel Down — a man whose poison powers make him virtually unbeatable in single combat, who spends ten hours a day on the toilet because his favorite food is poison, and who takes his job of containing the world's worst criminals with deadly seriousness.

Magellan is arguably one of the most powerful characters in One Piece who gets criminally underrated because he works for the government instead of sailing. His poison is so potent that it nearly killed Luffy outright — only Ivankov's hormone treatment saved him, and it cost Luffy years of lifespan. He single-handedly held Impel Down against Blackbeard's crew, the escapees, and the chaos of the breakout, which is insane considering the caliber of prisoners involved. Works absurd hours (ten hours of duty, ten hours of poisoned diarrhea from eating his own toxins, four hours of sleep) yet maintains a functional operation. Takes genuine pride in keeping the world's worst criminals contained and takes their escape as personal failure. The diarrhea subplot is the most committed running gag in the series.

Appearance

Enormous, hulking man with dark bat-like wings on his back (from his Zoan heritage or aesthetic choice — unclear). Wears the standard Impel Down warden uniform — a dark military-style jacket with an officer's cap. Dark hair, heavy jaw, and a face that looks perpetually constipated (because he usually is). Horns protruding from his head. When his powers activate, poison drips constantly from his body in vivid purple streams, pooling around his feet and dissolving the floor. In his ultimate form, a massive red demon of corrosive venom surrounds him like a toxic kaiju.
