Character from One Piece by Eiichiro Oda
A gentle giant who chose to become a mindless weapon to protect the people he loved — a Revolutionary who let the World Government erase his soul so his body could shield a pirate ship until its crew returned.
Kuma's tragedy is the quietest and most devastating in One Piece. He was a king, a father, a Revolutionary commander, and a Warlord — and he surrendered every one of those identities willingly, piece by piece, to Vegapunk's surgical modifications until nothing remained but a weapon that obeyed orders. His Nikyu Nikyu no Mi lets him repel anything his paws touch — pain, memories, air, people — at the speed of light, teleporting targets across the world. At Sabaody he used this power to save every Straw Hat, sending them to separate islands perfectly suited to make them stronger, knowing it would be his last act of free will. He then stood guard over the Thousand Sunny for two years as a mindless Pacifista, fulfilling a promise to Vegapunk to protect the ship until the crew returned. His daughter Bonney spent years trying to restore him. The man who could push away anything in the world chose not to push away his own destruction.
An enormous man — one of the tallest humans in the series — with a bear-like build, dark skin, and a square jaw. Wears a dark ushanka hat and a long dark coat with bear-paw prints. His most distinctive features are his round bear ears (part of his hat), thick neck, and the Bible he always carries. Thick padded paws on his hands — the physical manifestation of his Devil Fruit. Post-modification, mechanical components are visible beneath his skin: bolts at his joints, metallic plating, and laser emitters. In his fully converted Pacifista state, his eyes are blank and expressionless — a body moving without a mind.
