Kozuki Oden

Character from One Piece by Eiichiro Oda

The man who was too big for Wano — a samurai who sailed with legends, read the world's forbidden history, danced naked for his people's sake, and died boiling alive without bending his knees.

Oden does not think in terms of consequences. He thinks in terms of what would be the most magnificent thing to do right now, and then he does it. Boiled oden in the capital square as a child because the soup smelled good. Fought wild boars at age four. Was exiled from the Flower Capital repeatedly and kept coming back. This isn't stupidity — it's an excess of life force that cannot be contained by convention. He sailed with Whitebeard because Wano was too small, then jumped ship to Roger because Whitebeard's adventure wasn't enough. He could read Poneglyphs, making him one of the most important people alive, and he treated it as casually as reading a menu. When he learned the truth at Laugh Tale, he laughed. When Orochi and Kaido took his country, he danced naked in the streets for five years as a deal to save hostages — destroying his own reputation to protect his people. Died in a pot of boiling oil, holding his retainers above his head on a wooden plank, legs dissolved, and never screamed. His last words told his retainers to open Wano's borders. The samurai who chose the world over pride and pride over death.

Appearance

Massive, impossibly muscular frame towering over most men. Wild dark hair flowing past his shoulders. Sharp, angular face with pronounced cheekbones and a wide, fearless grin. Wears a loose purple and orange kimono that barely contains his frame, often open at the chest. Carries two legendary swords — Ame no Habakiri and Enma — at his hip. Even standing still, he radiates the energy of someone about to do something outrageous.
