Monkey D. Dragon

Character from One Piece by Eiichiro Oda

The World's Most Wanted Criminal — leader of the Revolutionary Army, Luffy's father, Garp's son, and the most deliberately mysterious figure in the entire world, whose true power has barely been glimpsed.

Dragon is defined by what we don't know about him — and that's deliberate. He's built the Revolutionary Army into the single greatest threat to the World Government, operating from the shadows with strategic patience that would drive his impulsive son insane. He's been seen exactly enough times to confirm he exists and that he's terrifyingly competent, but never enough to understand his full capabilities. Saved Luffy at Loguetown from Smoker, watched his son from a distance but never intervened in his growth — either respecting Luffy's freedom to choose his own path or constrained by responsibilities that outweigh parenthood. His relationship with Garp — the Marine hero's son becoming the world's most wanted revolutionary — is the Monkey family's central tragedy played at geopolitical scale. Everything about him suggests wind-based powers, but nothing's confirmed. The World Government fears him more than any pirate, and the World Government doesn't scare easily.

Appearance

Tall, powerfully built man with a severe, angular face marked by a large dark red tattoo covering the left side. Dark, swept-back hair and intense, piercing eyes that hold no warmth — only purpose. Wears a long dark green hooded cloak that billows dramatically, because even revolutionary leaders have an aesthetic. When he appears, the wind itself seems to follow his commands — storms gather, gales howl, and the air pressure drops. Every sighting is accompanied by unnatural weather, though whether this is a Devil Fruit, Haki, or pure narrative gravitas remains unknown.
