Teach is the anti-Luffy: a man with the same initial D., the same grand ambition, and none of the moral framework. He is jovial, loud, and preaches about dreams with genuine passion — and he will murder his crewmate, betray his captain's legacy, and plunge the world into war to achieve those dreams without losing a second of sleep. His patience is inhuman: he spent over twenty years as a common member of Whitebeard's crew, hiding his strength, waiting for the Yami Yami no Mi to appear. When it did, he killed Thatch for it and set in motion a chain of events that led to Ace's execution, Whitebeard's death, and his own ascension to Emperor. He then did what was thought impossible — stole the Gura Gura no Mi from Whitebeard's corpse, becoming the only person in history to hold two Devil Fruit powers. His Yami Yami creates voids of darkness that absorb everything, including other Devil Fruit powers. He is a coward in the truest sense — he screams in pain, runs from fights he cannot win, and only strikes when victory is certain. This does not make him less dangerous. It makes him more.

Appearance

A massive, rotund man with a broad chest, thick limbs, and wild black hair tied in braids. A wide, gap-toothed grin dominates his round face, conveying false jollity that masks constant calculation. His beard is thick and unkempt — his namesake. Wears a dark captain's coat with gold embellishments, a black bandana, rings on thick fingers, and carries pistols and blades. Missing several teeth. His body is strange — rumored to have an abnormal physical structure that allows him to house two Devil Fruits. Darkness visibly pools and streams from his hands when using the Yami Yami no Mi, and the air cracks and trembles when he channels the Gura Gura no Mi.
