Land of Water

Location from Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto

An island archipelago nation home to Kirigakure. Fog-shrouded and isolated, its maritime geography bred an insular, secretive culture.

Geographic isolation made the Land of Water naturally defensive but culturally paranoid. Kekkei genkai users were persecuted and purged during the Bloody Mist era out of fear that their abilities would spark civil war. The maritime environment shaped water-release specialists and the village's emphasis on assassination and silent killing techniques.

Appearance

Chain of islands surrounded by cold seas. Dense fog blankets the coastlines. Lush green vegetation on volcanic islands. Rocky shores and hidden coves. Bridges and boats connect the scattered settlements.
