Scroll of Seals

Item from Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto

Konoha's forbidden scroll containing dangerous jutsu deemed too powerful or costly for standard use. Naruto stole it in episode one and learned the Shadow Clone Technique from its pages.

The Scroll of Seals contains techniques forbidden by the Hokage — not because they are evil, but because they carry extreme risks to the user. The Shadow Clone Technique splits the user's chakra equally, potentially fatal for most ninja. The Reaper Death Seal summons the Shinigami at the cost of the user's soul. Naruto stealing this scroll was both his first act of rebellion and his first real achievement — he mastered a jonin-level technique in a single night, proving his potential to Iruka.

Appearance

An enormous scroll, nearly as tall as a person, with ornate red and cream coloring. Sealed with the Hokage's personal seal. Heavy enough to require carrying on one's back. The paper inside is densely covered in jutsu formulas.

Also known as: Scroll of Seals, Forbidden Scroll, Scroll of Forbidden Seals
