Sword of Kusanagi

Item from Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto

Orochimaru's legendary blade that can extend to infinite length, cut through nearly anything, and is telekinetically controlled — he keeps it stored in his throat and summons it through his mouth.

The Kusanagi's simplicity is deceptive. It extends, retracts, and moves through the air at Orochimaru's mental command. Its edge can cut through most materials, though it notably failed to pierce Naruto's four-tailed cloak. The grotesque method of storage — inside Orochimaru's body, summoned through his throat — perfectly reflects its wielder's disregard for conventional boundaries. Sasuke later wielded a variant called the Sword of Kusanagi: Chidori Katana.

Appearance

A straight, double-edged jian-style sword with a simple guard. Gleaming steel blade, unremarkable in appearance until it begins extending or moving on its own. Often emerges from Orochimaru's mouth coated in saliva.

Also known as: Kusanagi, Sword of Kusanagi, Kusanagi no Tsurugi
