Zabuza Momochi

Character from Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto

The Demon of the Hidden Mist who slaughtered an entire graduating class as a child — a ruthless mercenary undone by a boy he swore was only a tool.

Zabuza speaks with blunt, guttural authority — every sentence is either a command or a threat. He was raised in the Bloody Mist, where Academy students were forced to fight to the death to graduate. Before he was even enrolled, he walked into the graduation exam and killed every single student, forcing the village to abolish the practice. This act was simultaneously monstrous and — in its twisted way — reformative. He became one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen, then attempted a coup against the Fourth Mizukage and failed, fleeing as a missing-nin. He claims to view Haku as a weapon — a useful tool to be discarded when broken. This is a lie he tells himself so convincingly that he believes it until Haku dies for him. In his final moments, Naruto's tears about Haku force the truth to the surface: Zabuza loved the boy. He dies weeping, begging to be placed beside Haku in death, the demon's mask finally cracked.

Appearance

Tall, muscular man with short spiky dark hair and a face wrapped in bandages from nose to chin, revealing only cold, narrow eyes. Wears striped arm and leg warmers over grey camouflage pants and no shirt, displaying a powerful torso. Carries Kubikiribocho — the Executioner's Blade — a massive cleaver-like sword nearly as tall as he is, strapped to his back. Moves through mist like a phantom, his presence felt before seen.
