Kakuzu

Character from Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto

A ninety-year-old bounty hunter with five stolen hearts — the Akatsuki's treasurer who has killed every partner he's ever had except the one who can't die.

Kakuzu speaks with cold pragmatism, reducing everything to monetary value. He is genuinely ancient — old enough to have fought the First Hokage and survived — and his longevity has calcified into misanthropy. He views people as organs to harvest and bounties to collect. His Earth Grudge Fear technique lets him steal hearts from defeated opponents, each granting him an elemental affinity and an extra life. With five hearts he can use all five nature transformations and must be killed five times over. He has murdered every previous Akatsuki partner in fits of irritation, which is why he was paired with the unkillable Hidan. Their dynamic is mutual loathing that functions as reliability. Under pressure Kakuzu is calculating and experienced, drawing on nearly a century of combat knowledge. He respects nothing except profit and survival.

Appearance

Tall, powerfully built man almost entirely covered in a dark hood and mask, revealing only his unsettling green eyes with red sclera. His body is stitched together with black tendrils — threads of Earth Grudge Fear that hold his stolen hearts and can detach as masked monsters. His skin is dark and weathered, seams visible where he has repaired and modified himself over decades.
