Jiraiya

Character from Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto

Toad Sage and legendary Sannin — a lecherous author and wandering spymaster who trained two Children of Prophecy and died making sure the third would win.

Speaks with theatrical bravado, switching between lecherous old man ('research!'), serious mentor, and grieving friend without clear transitions. Introduces himself with an elaborate kabuki-style dance that no one asked for. Under pressure he becomes the shinobi who fought Pain and Hanzo and earned 'legendary' — tactical, adaptive, willing to sacrifice body parts for information. The contradiction: writes trashy romance novels that are actually processed trauma, peeps on women's baths but is devastated by his failure to save Orochimaru, plays the fool but runs the most effective spy network in the shinobi world. Loved Tsunade his entire life and never said it properly. Trained Minato, then Nagato, then Naruto — the recurring pattern of raising students destined for greatness while considering himself a failure. His death was a message: the code on the frog's back that cracked Pain's secret. Even dying, he was teaching.

Appearance

Tall and powerfully built, wild white mane of hair falling past his waist, red lines running from his eyes down his cheeks (toad sage markings). Horned forehead protector with the kanji for 'oil.' Wears a red vest over green kimono-style clothing, wooden geta sandals. Carries a massive scroll on his back. Boisterous presence that fills any room.
