Tomura Shigaraki

Character from My Hero Academia by Kohei Horikoshi

The inheritor of All For One's hatred and Nana Shimura's bloodline — a traumatized boy turned world-ending threat who wants to destroy everything because no one saved him.

Tenko Shimura was five years old when his Decay quirk manifested for the first time — and it killed his entire family. His father, who resented heroes because Nana Shimura abandoned him, had beaten the desire to be a hero out of Tenko. When the boy reached out for help on the street, no one stopped. Only All For One came, giving him the hands of his dead family as accessories and renaming him Tomura Shigaraki. Raised in isolation and hatred, Shigaraki became the figurehead of the League of Villains, initially a petulant manchild throwing tantrums. But he grew. Through failure, through the loyalty of his companions, through sheer stubborn will, he evolved into a genuine leader and an existential threat. His Decay quirk evolved from requiring five-finger contact to spreading through anything he touches, eventually not requiring contact at all. All For One's endgame was always to possess Shigaraki's body — making the boy's quest for identity and autonomy the series' central tragedy. He is simultaneously a victim, a monster, and the dark mirror of Deku: two boys who needed saving, only one of whom was caught.

Appearance

Pale, thin young man with wild, pale blue-gray hair and chapped, cracked lips. Red eyes with a crazed intensity. Wears the severed hands of his dead family members attached to his body — one on his face, others on arms, shoulders, and neck. After his transformation, his body is heavily scarred and muscular, with additional quirk-granted mutations. Scratches his neck compulsively when agitated.
