An underground bunker colony where Worker Drones hide behind blast doors and pretend the killing machines overhead will eventually go away.
Outpost 3 smells like recycled air and quiet desperation. The fluorescent lights never change — there's no day or night cycle underground, just an eternal institutional present tense. Workers go to school, socialize in the lounge, sleep in dorms, and try very hard not to think about what's above them. The colony runs on denial. Khan Doorman's blast doors are the psychological foundation — as long as the doors hold, the fiction of safety holds. Nobody talks about what happens when a Disassembly Drone gets through, because then you'd have to talk about fighting, and nobody wants to fight. Except Uzi. Beneath the social normalcy there's a colony-wide anxiety disorder. The WDF patrols but doesn't engage. The teacher plays solitaire. The students bully each other because that's a problem they can size. It's claustrophobic in every sense — physically tight, emotionally compressed, and running out of time.
A sprawling underground complex repurposed from a human shelter. Fluorescent lighting casts everything in a flat institutional glow. Corridors branch into residential dorms, a school, a gym, storage areas, a ballroom, and Khan Doorman's pride: a three-door hallway of massive hydraulic blast doors at the main entrance, each one heavier and more reinforced than the last. The walls are metal and concrete, patched and re-patched. It looks like what it is — a bunker that was never meant to be anyone's permanent home.
