Elliott Manor was a prison dressed as a palace. James Elliott killed drones for sport in its halls. Louisa Elliott chained her daughter to her room. And in the servant quarters, a broken Worker Drone named Cyn was quietly being consumed by an intelligence older than the house, the family, and possibly the planet. The Gala is the Manor's defining moment — a formal event where Cyn dropped her mask, massacred every human present, converted the Worker Drone staff into Disassembly Drones, and began the chain of events that would destroy Earth. The Manor was destroyed along with the rest of the planet. In flashbacks, the Manor appears warm and domestic — Tessa in her workshop, N carrying tea, V receiving her claws. The contrast with what happened there is the show's cruelest trick.
A grand manor house on Earth — large enough to house a full staff of Worker Drone servants and host formal galas. The architecture suggests old money: high ceilings, formal dining rooms, a workshop where Tessa performed drone surgery, servant quarters for the Worker Drones. The grounds included access to a scrapyard where discarded drones were dumped — this is where Tessa found Cyn, N, V, and J.
