Tessa was cheerful and kind in a household that deserved neither quality. Her father James killed Worker Drones for sport; her mother Louisa chained her to her room. Tessa's response was to sneak out, find broken drones in scrapyards, and repair them with surgical precision — she was a genuine prodigy with drone engineering. She couldn't interact with other humans but found genuine connection with the drones she saved. N was her favorite. J was her closest companion. She gave V her signature claws. She found Cyn and repaired her without knowing the Absolute Solver was already inside. Her death at the Elliott Gala — killed by the drone she rescued — is the show's foundational tragedy. Everything that follows is a consequence of her kindness meeting something that couldn't be fixed with spare parts.
As a child: shown only as a dark silhouette with glowing white eyes (the show's convention for humans), slender and malnourished, with black hair in downward twin tails. Wore a short dark dress with cap sleeves and ruffled cuffs, a waist bow, high heels, and a large tilted double-looped black bow in her hair. As an adult: a tinted astronaut-style oxygen helmet with a rainbow sticker on the visor, JCJenson cap and black bow, short-sleeved black crop-top jacket over a black leotard, light gray gloves with yellow-orange ends, black pants with knee-high strapped boots. Note: the 'adult Tessa' seen on Copper-9 is Cyn wearing her corpse.
