Ziggurat of the Sun

Location from Mother of Learning by nobody103

An ancient Ikosian temple-fortress housing one of the five Imperial Treasures — a remote, heavily warded ruin where the Imperial Ring waits for someone capable of claiming it.

The Ziggurat is a reminder of what the Ikosian Empire could build when it committed its full magical resources to a project. Every stone is warded. Every corridor is trapped. Every chamber is designed to test, challenge, and kill intruders who lack the knowledge or power to navigate its defenses. The Imperial Ring rests in the deepest chamber, protected by layers of magical security that have persisted for centuries after the Empire's fall. Reaching it requires not just magical power but specific knowledge of Ikosian warding patterns — knowledge that most modern mages have forgotten.

Appearance

A massive stepped pyramid of sun-bleached stone rising from arid terrain. Ikosian glyphs cover every surface, many still faintly glowing with residual enchantment. The entrance is flanked by guardian statues that may or may not still be active. The interior is a labyrinth of trapped corridors, sealed chambers, and magical defenses designed to protect the treasure within from anyone not worthy of wielding it.
