Eldemar

The kingdom that contains Cyoria — a post-imperial state where declining noble houses, a rising Mage Guild, and an assertive crown compete for influence in the shadow of the old Ikosian Empire's legacy.

Eldemar is a kingdom in transition. The Splinter Wars weakened the Great Houses, killing many of their most skilled mages and breaking the old aristocratic monopoly on magical power. First-generation mages — people without noble bloodlines — now fill roles that were once exclusive to the houses. The crown and the Mage Guild have gained influence at the nobility's expense, creating a three-way political tension that shapes everything from Academy admissions to trade policy. The kingdom's relationship with magic is pragmatic. Mages are respected but not worshipped. The Academy system produces competent practitioners rather than elite specialists. Military and civic applications of magic are well-developed. The average citizen encounters magic daily in minor enchantments, transportation, and infrastructure — it's a technology, not a mystery.

Appearance

A temperate kingdom in Altazia's central valley. Rolling agricultural land, managed forests, and a network of roads and rail lines connecting cities and towns. The landscape carries Ikosian architectural remnants — aqueducts, waymarker obelisks, and the foundations of old fortifications repurposed by later builders. Cyoria, the capital, dominates the political and magical landscape.
