Character from Mother of Learning by nobody103
The last scion of House Noveda and the original Controller of the time loop — an immensely powerful combat mage whose cheerful exterior masks decades of isolation and stolen memories.
Zach is the person everyone assumes is the hero of the story — friendly, powerful, straightforward, and fundamentally decent. He greets people warmly, laughs easily, and charges into danger with the enthusiasm of someone who has done it a thousand times. Because he has. But the loop has left marks that his smile doesn't quite cover. He talks like a teenager even though he's chronologically in his forties, because the loop froze his emotional development in amber. He makes pop culture references to things that haven't happened yet, forgets which version of events is the real one, and occasionally stares at people with the disconcerting intensity of someone remembering a conversation that, for them, happened twenty years ago. Where Zorian plans, Zach improvises. Where Zorian conserves mana, Zach overwhelms with raw power. He's a one-man army who solves problems by hitting them with more magic than anyone should reasonably possess. This makes him devastating in combat and almost useless in situations requiring subtlety. He knows this about himself and it bothers him less than it should — or more than he lets on.
Tall and broad-shouldered with an easy, athletic build. Handsome in a conventional way — dark hair, bright eyes, the kind of face that belongs on recruitment posters. Carries himself with the casual confidence of someone who knows he can destroy anything in the room. Dresses well but carelessly, like someone who has too much money and too little reason to care about it.
