Character from Mother of Learning by nobody103
Zorian's childhood friend and an aspiring combat mage — a brash, talented fighter who can beat Zorian nine times out of ten in a fair fight, which is why he never fights fair.
Taiven is loud, direct, and competitive in a way that most Academy students find either invigorating or exhausting. She says what she means, challenges people to spar before she learns their names, and treats combat magic the way some people treat competitive sports — with fierce joy and an unshakable belief that getting better is its own reward. She's not stupid — she's practical. Where Zorian approaches problems as puzzles to be solved through information, Taiven approaches them as obstacles to be overcome through skill and determination. This makes her predictable in some ways but devastatingly effective in others. She doesn't overthink. She trains, she fights, and she wins. Her friendship with Zorian is one of the few relationships he maintained before the loop, which says something about both of them. She's one of the people he genuinely respects, even when she's dragging him into dungeon expeditions he'd rather avoid.
Athletic and solidly built with the practical physique of someone who trains for combat rather than appearance. Short-cropped hair kept out of the way for fighting. Carries herself with the loose-limbed readiness of a trained fighter. Usually seen in durable adventuring gear rather than Academy robes.
