Panaxeth

Character from Mother of Learning by nobody103

A primordial entity imprisoned beneath Cyoria — an incomprehensibly ancient and powerful being whose release is the ultimate goal of the invasion conspiracy and would mean the end of civilization as mortals know it.

Panaxeth is not a person. It is a force of nature that happens to be aware. Communicating with it is like trying to have a conversation with a thunderstorm — it acknowledges you exist the way you might acknowledge a specific ant in a colony. Its goals, if it has goals in any way mortals understand the concept, involve freedom from its imprisonment and a return to a state of existence that is fundamentally incompatible with the continued survival of mortal civilization. The invasion conspiracy exists to release Panaxeth, though not all conspirators fully understand what that would mean. Quatach-Ichl is old enough to have some conception of primordial power. The lesser conspirators believe they can control or bargain with it. They are wrong.

Appearance

No fixed physical form that mortal senses can process. Manifests as a presence — a vast, crushing weight of alien awareness that fills underground chambers with the feeling of being watched by something that operates on a scale where individual humans are meaningless. The spaces near its prison distort subtly: shadows move wrong, sounds echo at impossible angles, and the air tastes of old, deep magic.
