Terris

Location from Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson

Northern mountain homeland of the Terris people, birthplace of Feruchemy. The Lord Ruler subjugated its people through breeding programs to suppress Feruchemical bloodlines for a thousand years.

Terris is defined by its people's quiet, enduring resistance. The Terris were the original Feruchemists, and Feruchemy — the ability to store attributes in metal — is their cultural birthright. The Lord Ruler, himself originally Terris, feared the combination of Allomancy and Feruchemy and implemented systematic breeding programs to eliminate Feruchemical ability. Despite this thousand-year oppression, the Terris Keepers secretly preserved their knowledge, storing vast libraries of information in copperminds. Terris stewards served in noble households across the Final Empire, appearing meek and servile while secretly maintaining their traditions. The region's isolation helped preserve what the Lord Ruler sought to destroy.

Appearance

Rugged northern mountains with hardy vegetation clinging to steep slopes. The terrain is cold and wind-swept, with narrow valleys sheltering small settlements. Stone structures blend with the mountainous landscape. Terris architecture favors natural materials and integration with the terrain rather than domination of it.
