Location from Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson
A large lake at the center of Luthadel where the River Channerel pools. A geographic anchor of the capital city, its shores lined with noble estates and commercial docks.
Lake Luthadel is the geographic heart of the capital, around which the city grew over the centuries of the Lord Ruler's reign. The Channerel River feeds it, and canals extend from it into the city's commercial districts. The lake serves as a transportation hub, a source of water, and a natural barrier that shapes the city's layout. Noble keeps along its shores command premium positions. For the skaa, the lake is a workplace — fishing boats go out at dawn, returning before the mists descend. The lake's dark waters, perpetually filmed with ash, mirror the oppressive atmosphere of Final Empire Luthadel.
A broad expanse of dark water reflecting Luthadel's skyline and the ever-present ash-grey sky. The surface is perpetually dusted with a thin film of ash. Docks and wharves line portions of the shore for commercial traffic. Noble keeps along the lakefront have private landings. At night, the mists hover thickly over the water, and the lake becomes a featureless void of fog.
