The Lord Ruler's palace in Luthadel, called the Hill of a Thousand Spires. A dark fortress of twisted metal spires rising impossibly from a central hill, housing the Well of Ascension in its depths.
Kredik Shaw is less a palace than a statement of absolute, unknowable power. The Lord Ruler built it directly atop the Well of Ascension, both to guard the Well and to draw upon its proximity. Inside, vast halls echo with emptiness — the Lord Ruler needed no courtiers, no comfort, no warmth. Steel Inquisitors patrol its corridors. The architecture defies normal construction, its spires seemingly impossible without Allomantic aid. Beneath the palace, deep shafts descend to caverns where the Well pulses with Preservation's concentrated power. Kelsier infiltrated its upper chambers; Vin descended to its deepest point to release the Well's power. After the Collapse, it served as Elend's seat of government — an uncomfortable throne for a reluctant king.
A nightmare of dark metal and stone — hundreds of sharp spires twist skyward from a massive domed structure atop Luthadel's central hill. The spires are irregular, jagged, and alien in design, as though grown rather than built. No windows face outward. The metal surfaces are perpetually slick with condensation from the mists, reflecting torchlight in oily gleams. Interior corridors are labyrinthine, designed to confuse intruders.
