Conventical of Seran

Location from Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson

A remote fortress serving as a Steel Inquisitor stronghold. Contains Kwaan's metallic inscription — the unaltered prophecy of the Hero of Ages that Ruin could not change because it was carved in metal.

The Conventical of Seran exists at the intersection of truth and horror. It is both a Steel Inquisitor headquarters — a place of Hemalurgic experimentation and religious fanaticism — and the repository of the most important text in Scadrial's history. Kwaan, the Terris scholar who originally identified Alendi as the Hero of Ages and then realized his mistake, carved his confession and warning into metal plates here, knowing that Ruin could alter any text written in ink, paper, or even stone, but not metal. Sazed's discovery of this inscription was pivotal: it revealed that the prophecies had been systematically altered by Ruin over centuries, and that the true Hero of Ages was not who anyone expected.

Appearance

A dark, imposing stone fortress set in desolate terrain far from any city. Angular architecture with few windows, built for function rather than beauty. Inside, corridors are lined with steel plates. The inscription chamber contains a massive metal wall covered in carved Terris script — Kwaan's desperate message to the future, preserved in the one medium Ruin cannot alter.
