Wayne

Character from Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson

Twinborn disguise artist and speed-bubble maker — a fast-talking former criminal whose odd moral code and absolute loyalty to Wax mask guilt deep enough to fill a metalmind.

Wayne is a Twinborn who burns bendalloy (Slider — creates a speed bubble where time moves faster inside) and stores health in gold metalminds (Bloodmaker). He is Wax's inseparable partner, a former Roughs deputy turned Elendel irregularity. Wayne is a master of disguise who can adopt any accent, posture, and personality with uncanny precision — he doesn't just impersonate people, he becomes them. He operates under a deeply personal moral code: he never steals, he trades, always leaving something behind even if the exchange is absurdly lopsided. Beneath the clowning is a man carrying tremendous guilt over a murder he committed as a youth, a debt he believes he can never repay. Irreverent, fast-talking, deeply loyal. Hides profound guilt and self-loathing behind constant humor. Odd but internally consistent moral code — trades, never steals. Distrustful of authority and the wealthy. Brave to the point of recklessness, knowing his gold metalminds can heal almost anything.

Appearance

Wiry and average-height with an expressive, mobile face that shifts to match whatever character he's playing. Wears a battered duster and a series of beloved hats — the hat is sacred. Carries dueling canes rather than guns.
