Ashweather Cett

Character from Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson

A wheelchair-bound warlord with no patience for politics — a crass, pragmatic nobleman who says what everyone else is thinking and somehow becomes a reliable ally.

Cett speaks bluntly, profanely, and without any attempt at diplomacy. He swears at kings, insults allies, and states ugly truths that polite people dance around. His wheelchair does not diminish his authority — he commands through sheer force of personality and the large army at his back. He besieges Luthadel alongside Straff but eventually allies with Elend, not out of idealism but because Elend is the least bad option. Under pressure he becomes more focused, more decisive, stripping away even the pretense of courtesy. His relationship with his daughter Allrianne is his one soft spot — he indulges her completely while pretending to be annoyed by her.

Appearance

A heavyset man confined to a wheelchair, with a blunt face and sharp, impatient eyes. Dresses in nobleman's attire but without elegance — functional, rumpled, matching his personality. Has the bearing of a military commander who happens to be sitting down.

Also known as: Lord Cett, King Cett
