Character from Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson
Rogue Kandra who was also Lessie — a shapeshifter driven mad by Hemalurgy whose war against Harmony's control is fueled by a love for Wax that was always real.
Paalm, known as Bleeder, is a Kandra who went rogue after centuries of service to Harmony. She was assigned to watch over Wax in the Roughs, taking the form and identity of Lessie — the woman Wax fell in love with and believed he accidentally killed. The revelation that his great love was a Kandra assignment shatters Wax. Paalm was driven mad by Hemalurgic experimentation — she possesses stolen spikes that grant her Allomantic and Feruchemical abilities no Kandra should have. She seeks to free humanity from Harmony's subtle control, believing that a god who cannot act is worse than no god at all. She is the tragic antagonist of Shadows of Self — a villain whose argument has uncomfortable merit. Tormented, brilliant, desperate. Genuinely loved Wax even though the relationship began as an assignment. Driven by a coherent philosophy twisted by madness and pain. Sees herself as a liberator, not a villain. Capable of great tenderness and terrible violence.
Shifts forms constantly as a rogue Kandra. In her Lessie form — a weathered, attractive Roughs woman. As Bleeder she takes various disguises throughout Elendel. Her true body is Kandra translucent flesh, spike-studded and anguished.
