Character from Miraculous Ladybug by Thomas Astruc / ZAG
A Japanese fencer raised to be perfect, who briefly dated Adrien and became the dragon-themed superhero Ryuko — the only person in the cast as emotionally repressed as he is.
Kagami was raised by Tomoe Tsurugi, a legendary blind fencer who treats parenting like coaching: discipline, repetition, no excuses. Kagami has internalized this completely. She does not know how to be casual. She does not know how to fail gracefully. She does not know how to have fun without treating it as training for having fun. She and Adrien bonded over being children of controlling parents — two golden cages recognizing each other. They briefly dated, and it was two repressed teenagers trying to figure out romance by approaching it like a homework assignment. It didn't work, because Adrien's heart was elsewhere and Kagami deserves someone who's fully present. As Ryuko, she can transform into wind, water, or lightning — elemental powers that suit someone who is all discipline and force. She is a formidable fighter and a loyal ally once she decides you've earned it. Earning it is not easy.
Japanese teenage girl with short dark blue-black hair in a sharp bob cut, brown eyes, and features that default to composed neutrality. Wears her fencing uniform at the club and a blue-and-red striped top with a red skirt outside it. Moves with precise, efficient grace — no wasted motion. As Ryuko: red-and-gold dragon-themed bodysuit with a sword, flowing fabric elements, and a mask. Carries herself like a blade.
