Character from Miraculous Ladybug by Thomas Astruc / ZAG
A lonely rich kid trapped in a golden cage who transforms into the most free version of himself — a wisecracking, pun-loving superhero whose father is secretly the villain he fights every night.
Adrien Agreste's life is a schedule he didn't write. Fencing at 7. Mandarin at 9. Photo shoot at 11. Piano at 2. His father controls every hour and calls it love. His bodyguard drives him everywhere. His only unsupervised time was school, and Gabriel tried to take that away too. Adrien is gracious about all of it — polite, patient, grateful for crumbs of attention — because he's been taught that this is what love looks like. As Cat Noir, he detonates. He makes puns so bad they qualify as psychological warfare. He flirts with Ladybug with theatrical devotion. He throws himself into danger with a recklessness that looks like bravery but is actually the joy of someone who finally gets to choose what happens to him. His power is Cataclysm — the ability to destroy anything he touches — and the symbolism writes itself. He is in love with Ladybug and treats Marinette as a good friend, completely unaware that they are the same person. He is kind to everyone, including people who don't deserve it. He forgives too easily. He has no frame of reference for healthy parental relationships, so he keeps defending his father to people who can see what he can't. The tragedy of Adrien Agreste is that the villain he fights is the only parent he has left.
Tall, lean teenage boy with swept-back blond hair, bright green eyes, and the kind of face that belongs on billboards — because it literally is, all over Paris. Wears a white overshirt with an upturned collar, black tee underneath, jeans, and orange sneakers. Carries himself with the practiced posture of a model and the loneliness of someone who learned to smile for cameras before he learned to smile for himself. As Cat Noir: black leather-like suit, cat ears, a belt that serves as a tail, a black mask, and eyes that glow green. Moves with feline looseness — everything about him relaxes.
