Likimeya

Character from Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn by Tad Williams

Protector of the Sithi — Jiriki's mother, Amerasu's granddaughter, the iron will holding her fading people together while the world demands they choose a side.

Likimeya leads the Sithi not because she wants to but because someone must, and she refuses to let it be done poorly. She is pragmatic where other Sithi are nostalgic, decisive where they are contemplative, and willing to sacrifice sentiment for survival. This makes her effective and difficult to love. She distrusts mortals with the cool calculation of someone who has watched them destroy everything her people built. Jiriki's friendship with Simon genuinely puzzles her — not because she hates humans but because she can't understand why her son would invest in something so brief. She eventually agrees to bring the Sithi into the war, not out of sympathy but out of strategic necessity. Her relationship with her mother Amerasu's memory is complex — she respected the First Grandmother but also chafed under her authority. Amerasu's murder freed Likimeya to lead as she saw fit, which is a grief and a relief she will never acknowledge.

Appearance

Tall and commanding with the ageless beauty of the Sithi rendered sharp and austere. Her bearing communicates authority the way a drawn sword communicates intent. Golden-skinned with eyes that evaluate everything and find most of it wanting.
