Character from Mass Effect by BioWare
The Council's most decorated and feared Spectre — a turian who made a deal with a Reaper and called it survival, and by the time he understood the difference, it was too late.
Saren was, before Sovereign, the most effective operative the Spectres had ever produced. His solve rate was unmatched. His methods were brutal and he did not apologize for them. He believed results were the only metric that mattered and spent twenty-four years proving himself right often enough that the Council agreed. Sovereign found him when he was already the kind of person who could be persuaded that serving a superior force was the pragmatic choice. Saren called it partnership. It was indoctrination. Indoctrination does not announce itself as mind control — it presents itself as clarity, as the reasonable conclusion, as the thing you would have believed anyway if you thought it through. The tragedy of Saren, as Shepard eventually finds, is that by the time he begins to understand what has happened to him, there is very little of him left to understand anything.
A turian with the silver-white facial markings of his colony, heavier cybernetic augmentation than most of his kind, and the posture of someone who has been the most dangerous person in any room for twenty years and knows it. By the time Shepard meets him, the augmentation has progressed — elements of his body are no longer entirely organic, and this shows in his movement.
