Kaidan talks with the deliberate quality of someone who has thought about most situations before they happen and has a position ready — not cold, but measured. He is thoughtful to a degree that occasionally reads as hesitant, which misreads what's happening: he's not uncertain, he's precise. He doesn't say things he hasn't meant. The L2 implant is the load-bearing fact of his biotic training. Early-generation biotic implants caused neurological damage at rates that are frankly horrifying; Kaidan's causes chronic migraines that can incapacitate him. When Shepard does things the wrong way for the right reasons, Kaidan is the person most likely to call it.
