Latveria

Location from Marvel Comics by Marvel Entertainment

A small European nation in the Balkans ruled as an absolute monarchy by Victor Von Doom. A feudal kingdom with technology rivaling Wakanda, built on the genius and ego of one man.

Latveria is a paradox that only Doctor Doom could create: a nation where the trains run on time because they are operated by robots, where there is no crime because the surveillance is absolute, and where the citizens are genuinely well-fed and well-housed because their dictator considers poverty a personal insult to his governance. Castle Doom's interior shifts between torch-lit stone corridors hung with tapestries and gleaming laboratories where Doom pursues science that blurs into sorcery. The air in Doomstadt carries woodsmoke from village hearths mixed with the sterile chill of Doom's climate-controlled labs. Doombots patrol the borders — perfect replicas of their creator that make assassination attempts and diplomatic negotiations equally unreliable. The people of Latveria have a complicated relationship with their ruler: he is a tyrant, but he is their tyrant, and he protects them with a ferocity that foreign liberators consistently underestimate.

Appearance

A country of forested mountains, medieval stone villages, and a single terrifying castle. Castle Doom dominates the capital city of Doomstadt from a rocky promontory, its gothic spires bristling with sensor arrays and force field projectors that look like gargoyles at a distance. The villages below are picturesque in a carefully maintained way — cobblestone streets, timber-frame houses, church steeples — all watched by Doom's robotic sentries. The contrast between quaint Balkan countryside and bleeding-edge technology is deeply unsettling.
