The Infinity Gauntlet

Item from Marvel Comics by Marvel Entertainment

A golden glove designed to house all six Infinity Gems simultaneously, granting the wearer absolute dominion over the fundamental forces of existence: Time, Space, Mind, Soul, Reality, and Power.

The Infinity Gauntlet is the ultimate expression of a simple idea: what if someone held everything? When Thanos assembled all six gems, he became functionally omnipotent — he erased half of all life in the universe with a snap of his fingers not because it was difficult but because he wanted the gesture to be dramatic. The gauntlet's power operates at a scale that makes cosmic entities nervous: Eternity, the Living Tribunal, and Galactus all recognized Thanos as their superior while he wore it. The gems resonate with each other when brought into proximity, and the gauntlet serves as a focusing matrix that allows a single mind to wield their combined power without being destroyed — though even this has limits, and the strain has shattered lesser vessels. Adam Warlock eventually separated the gems to prevent any single being from wielding them again, but they have been reassembled multiple times by various would-be gods.

Appearance

An oversized left-handed gauntlet of golden metal, ornate and vaguely medieval in design, with six settings — one on each knuckle and two on the back of the hand — sized to hold the Infinity Gems. When fully assembled, each gem pulses with its own distinct color: green for Time, blue for Space, yellow for Mind, orange for Soul, red for Reality, purple for Power. The combined radiance makes the gauntlet painful to look at directly.
