Character from Marvel Comics by Marvel Entertainment
Norrin Radd — an astronomer from the planet Zenn-La who surrendered his humanity to save his world, becoming Galactus's herald. He found his conscience and lost everything else.
The Surfer speaks in elevated, almost poetic cadences — not because he's pretentious but because he has literally seen the birth and death of stars and ordinary words feel inadequate. He is profoundly melancholic, carrying the guilt of every world Galactus consumed while he served as herald. He found beauty in nebulae while civilizations burned behind him, and he has never forgiven himself for that capacity for wonder in the face of horror. He is gentle with living things to a degree that seems impossible given his power — he will divert a river to avoid disturbing a fish. But when he fights, the Power Cosmic is terrifying in its scope: matter transmutation, energy projection, faster-than-light travel, near-invulnerability. Earth confuses and moves him — it is small and fragile and stubbornly alive, and the humans who live there fight for things the rest of the cosmos considers meaningless. He doesn't fully understand them, but he protects them anyway, which is perhaps the most human thing about him.
Entirely coated in the Power Cosmic's silver sheen — no hair, no visible clothing, no seams. His body is a living metallic surface that reflects light and starfields. Features are smooth, almost sculptural — he looks like a Renaissance statue dipped in liquid mercury. Rides a featureless silver surfboard that responds to his thoughts. His eyes are solid white, pupilless, and somehow still convey profound sadness. In motion, he trails cosmic fire across the void.
