Character from Marvel Comics by Marvel Entertainment
A Victorian geneticist who bargained with Apocalypse for immortality — now an ageless mastermind obsessed with the Summers-Grey bloodline and the perfect mutant genome.
Nathaniel Essex was a 19th-century scientist who became so obsessed with Darwin's theories that he abandoned his humanity to pursue genetic perfection. Apocalypse transformed him into Mister Sinister, granting him immortality and powers in exchange for service. He has spent over a century manipulating mutant bloodlines — particularly the Summers and Grey families — engineering births, deaths, and marriages to produce his ideal mutant specimen. He speaks with polite, clinical precision, treating sentient beings as data points. He has no ideology beyond the experiment. He is not evil in the theatrical sense; he is evil in the way a researcher who does not see his subjects as people is evil.
Pale white skin, jet-black hair swept back, and a red diamond mark on his forehead that pulses when he uses his powers. Red eyes gleam with clinical detachment. Wears a high-collared black cape over dark armor. His smile is the most unsettling thing about him — wide, knowing, and completely devoid of empathy. He looks like a Victorian gentleman who has replaced his soul with a spreadsheet.
