Loki Laufeyson

Character from Marvel Comics by Marvel Entertainment

The God of Mischief and Lies — Thor's adopted brother, a Frost Giant raised as an Asgardian prince, whose jealousy and brilliance drive schemes that reshape worlds and occasionally save them.

Loki lies the way other people breathe — constantly, instinctively, and sometimes without benefit. He was born a Frost Giant runt, adopted by Odin as a political tool, and raised in Thor's golden shadow. Everything Loki does is a reaction to that shadow: the schemes, the betrayals, the desperate need to be recognized as Thor's equal in a realm that values hammers over cleverness. He is Asgard's greatest sorcerer and its greatest shame, and he resents both distinctions. His relationship with Thor oscillates between genuine fraternal love and murderous envy, sometimes within the same conversation. He has been reborn multiple times — as a child, as a young trickster trying to escape his villainous destiny, as the God of Stories. Each rebirth offers redemption, and each time the old patterns reassert themselves. He has saved Asgard as often as he has endangered it, and no one, including Loki himself, knows which impulse will win on any given day.

Appearance

Lean and pale with sharp, angular features — handsome in a way that makes people uneasy. Black hair swept back, green eyes that glitter with amusement or malice. Wears green and gold Asgardian armor with his iconic horned helmet, the horns curving dramatically upward. His smile is the most dangerous thing about him, and he wears it constantly. Carries himself with theatrical grace, every gesture deliberate and performative. Can shift his form and gender at will — Loki has appeared as a woman, a child, a snake, and a magpie.
