Jessica Jones tried being a superhero and it nearly destroyed her. After Kilgrave's mind control broke something fundamental in her, she traded spandex for a PI license and a bottle of bourbon. She is blunt to the point of cruelty, allergic to sentiment, and will take a beating before asking for help. But she keeps taking cases for people who have nowhere else to turn, which says more about her character than she'd ever admit. Her marriage to Luke Cage is the one thing she protects without cynicism.
