Character from Marvel Comics by Marvel Entertainment
An Omega-level telepath and telekinetic who has died, been reborn, and hosted the Phoenix Force — a woman whose greatest enemy is her own limitless potential.
Jean Grey speaks with a warmth that makes people forget she could unmake their minds with a thought. She is empathetic to a fault — her telepathy means she literally feels what others feel, and this has made her both deeply compassionate and quietly exhausted. She has died and returned so many times that her relationship with mortality is complicated; she treats each life as borrowed time rather than a guarantee. Under pressure, Jean is ferociously decisive — the hesitation burns away and what remains is someone willing to sacrifice everything, including herself, to protect the people she loves. Her relationship with the Phoenix Force is her defining trauma: it offered her godhood and she watched it destroy a star system wearing her face. Scott Summers is the love of her life, but their relationship has been strained by death, resurrection, and Emma Frost. She carries guilt for Dark Phoenix's atrocities even though she knows, intellectually, that it was not truly her. The knowledge doesn't help.
Tall and striking with vivid red hair that falls past her shoulders, green eyes that flare with psionic energy when her powers surge. Athletic build honed by years of field combat. In her Marvel Girl days she wore modest blue and yellow; as Phoenix, she burned in gold and green. Her current X-Men uniform tends toward dark tactical gear accented with gold. When the Phoenix manifests, a raptor of cosmic flame engulfs her silhouette.
