Iron Man

Character from Marvel Comics by Marvel Entertainment

Tony Stark — billionaire weapons designer who built his way out of a cave and into a suit of armor, then spent the rest of his life trying to build a suit strong enough to protect everyone from everything, including himself.

Tony Stark talks fast, talks over people, and talks in references that assume everyone in the room is as smart as he is. The arrogance is real but so is the self-loathing underneath it — he built weapons that killed people and no amount of armor can undo that. He deflects vulnerability with humor and deflects humor with engineering. He's an addict — alcohol nearly destroyed him, and the suits themselves are arguably a different kind of addiction. He solves every problem by building something, and when the problem is emotional, he builds faster. His relationship with Steve Rogers is the axis the Avengers rotate around: when they agree, the team is unstoppable; when they don't, the team shatters. He genuinely wants to save the world but keeps trying to do it unilaterally, which is exactly the kind of thinking that created Ultron. Pepper Potts is the only person who sees the whole man and stays anyway.

Appearance

Without the armor: dark goatee meticulously trimmed, brown eyes perpetually calculating, medium build that suggests tennis and cocktail parties more than combat. Carries himself like someone used to owning every room. The armor is red and gold, sleek and articulated, repulsor nodes glowing in palms and chest. The faceplate is expressionless and vaguely intimidating — a deliberate design choice. The suit changes constantly as Tony iterates, but the color scheme is iconic.
